Cool Duke 749 or CBR 998

Which Bike would you get and why.
I have the chance to get a new bike and would like either a CBR or Duke.

I think I could comfortably say that I would die really fast on either of those dude

Which means I am sadly unable to help at all

Good luck with your decision tho mate and go canny on the beast you choose.

    Advantages of each:

Duke: Less common, impresses bikers and non-bikers alike, Sweet handling, V-Twin motah.

Honda: Fast, reliable, it's a Honda etc.

Test ride them both is my advice, see which one does it for you.

It all depends (in my opinion) what you want from a bike.

The Ducati's sound great, and the Blade is a poser's delight - and isn't there a new RR version imminent?? Have you tried the Blade? I found it rather uncomfortable - hard on the back and the forearms/wrists. Comfort-wise, the Duke was worse than the Blade. Maybe that tells me more about my age than the bike though

Personally, I've got my eye on the new Fazer 600 - a large improvement over the old one and that wasn't half bad. It doesn't have the sheer grunt of the Blade or big Dukes, but handles beautifully and the new engine is an R6 derivative and is fantastic.

The 600 is not as good for posing as the big bikes, but don't write it off against them, performance-wise, until you get to pretty high speeds. If you want a motorway rocket, then by all means go for size. But the Fazer is a LOT cheaper to buy, and is cheaper to insure and run as well - and off the line, it's pretty flippin' quick too.

Like I said, it depends what you want from a bike.

My Problem is i had a duke 748 and and i'd it until i dropped it at mallory park.
I like the idea to the honda and the bulit proof engine.
The duke was realy reliable apart from the clutch which would only last 2-3k

    Ooops.

So track days are part of the intended use??

EDIT - I guess Rave had the best advice - try 'em both and see which one does it for you.

The CBR for miles and miles of endless fun.

The Duke for the love of it.

The duke will be very unreliable and expensive to maintain, but its a duke!
