Astra mate, quite often I get lumbered with either an Astra or a mondeo normally (both are diesel); the Astra's a lot "lighter" to drive.

    Go for it every time.

and at 92K there's a chance it'll actually be run in. My van was a pig - I got it when there was about 27K on the clock - didn't start feeling right till it clicked round past 60K... Diesels take a while to run in properly

ok.. went to have a drive in them both, the mondeo was just to Ford for my likeing.. nothing really exciting about the looks or the drive.. just a decent works hack... the Astra had been battered about a bit, sloppy gear change, high clutch bite and rattly at 70ish... not nice sounding for the many motorway miles its gonna do...

    BUT...

Sat in the corner of the yard "Awaiting Prep" was an R Plate Pug 306 HDI DTurbo.. Light Blue 3 Door, AirCon, Electrics, 1 Owner, Full Service and 70k on the clock and a Full Servie 2k ago.. now to say it was awaiting prep it looked and smelled like new.. priced at £3495, it was a little over what I wanted to pay, but thought what the hey, lets have a drive in that... Drove like New. Nothing squeaked, nothing rattled and pulled nicely through the gears! he'd take £3300 cash so deposit paid and picking it up Wednesday

thanks for the advice guys.. even though I went against my own statement of "and these are the only 2 cars i'm looking at" its all turned out nice in the end

well its got HDI on the back, and DTurbo on the Door... if they are a different model then I assume someones put the HDI on the back.. as the log book only says DTurbo...

    either way, i'm happy..

thanks guys... i like it.. its not to sluggish for a diesel what with the Turbo an all.. and in 5th the Turbo kicks in at about 70ish, which is pretty handy for overtaking on the motorway..

Theo, the house is Barratts... its on one of the new developments just outside of Blackpool... 'tis a nice house tho

and TiG, its pretty imaculate... only point I can find wrong is that the light on the clock isnt working... and theres no rubber on the accelarator pedal.. but a trip to the scappy's this weekend should sort those 2 out...

yeah Tom.. I prefer the shape of the 306 over the Mondeo and Astra.... and it being a Pug and the g/f is a friend of the sales manager at the Blackpool Pug dealer means we get a deal on servicing as well..
