Insurance on 1.1 Fiestas is astronomical, I should know I had one. Cost the same as a 1.4 Clio.
Why?
Cos every kid has one, and everyone smacks their first car.

I had an old 1.0 Micra, beauty of a car, did 400 miles on a tank of petrol (£25 to fill up). Dirt cheep to insure. Okay they look crap and the interiour ain't up to much, but they are cheeper, i think, to insure than nova/fiesta, cause so many get modded by boy racers and they don't tell the insurance company.
I'll agree with Lowe tho, everyone smacks their first car, did mine just before christmas :S

Oh why did VX make the life expectancy of the arches 1/3rd that of the rest of the car lol...
Aaaaanyways, 1st car, something cheap with some tax n MOT on it, few £££ and your off, if your rents go on about having a deathtrap of an old car just say to them fine, you buy me a nice car and then pay my insurance for it and the rest of the cars after I have an accident...
Dunno but Renault were drinking the same stuff when they made the Clio.Originally posted by [GSV]Trig

In which case get a Mazda RX-8 or a Nissan 350z
seriously mate - Fiestas and Japanese vehicles are pretty much no-go. Simply because of the insurance costs...
I had a really old Daihatsu for about a month - I tried to insure that (I'm 23) and they were after nearly £2k fully comp. admittedly it was a 1.6 petrol, but that's not exactly big and powerful - especially when it's of 1978 vintage. Same with the Fiesta - rood boys buy them, lots of kids buy them - they're ever so popular, and then they smack them up because of inexperience. This pushes insurance premiums through the roof for poor unfortunates like you and me.
You would be far far better off getting something either French, or British. a Citroen AX, a small Renault Clio (the 1.2 my mum's got is perfect for a new driver) Dare I say it..... a Land Rover.... the same company that quoted me 2K for the datty have insured me for £478 comprehensive on my Land Rover - and it's got a 2.5L engine. And a turbo. And it's about 3 times the size physically of the Daihatsu.
I don't understand insurers.... blood sucking goits.....

How about a KA The ultimate small, convenient car! I found another great use for its size today...parking is so much easier in this thing than it would be in anything even slightly bigger for me! Oh, and its a 1.3 engine and has plenty of power - i guarantee!
Apparently Sandicliffe Ford are selling 2nd ones off from just £2.5k now
