    Wanted: Shed

    After Zak's thread, I want a shed.

I've got £500 and I want a 2nd car as a run around, you know the sort, one I can cart stuff around.

I went to the garden centre to buy a load of compost, and I only just managed to fit it in the boot of the S2000.

    So.....

    £500, what can ya find?

Not fussed on engine, small or large, petrol or diesel, manual or auto.

I saw a very nice 1 owner, 47000mile, 1.4 auto clio, 1994 on ebay the other day and it sold for £570, proper nice little car.

I'd like to lodge an objection.

early 90's is easy pickings for £500 , but I think you'll find later 90's cars will require a little more of your hard-earned.

I always look to spend £500 on a model of car that usually changes hand for £250.

Sounds strange, but there's some logic there, I promise.

Think about it the other way around.... do you buy a £500 car that, in good nick, would set you back £1K?

Then it's just a case of viewing and being VERY critical. It may take a month or two, but you'll find something that won't let you down and can outshine far newer cars.

Thats my way of thinking too.

I want a tidy car rather than a newer roughed up car if that makes sense.

I saw a 1994 polo 1.4 boulevard, 1owner, looked immaculate, full history, sold for £647 which was a little over budget, but something like that would be ideal.

    Skoda Felicia
    Nissan Sunny
Ford Fiesta Mk3 (avoid the 1.3)
    Vauxhall Astra

If this is only as a 2nd car rundaround that will probably only see a few thousand miles a year then current mileage isn't a huge issue, especially if you find one with a good service record.

yep, they're the sort of thing.

they don't even need to be sunny/astra sized, even a micra/clio/polo etc.

Yeah, milage isn't really an issue, although below 80k would be nice. decent history etc.

Mondeo or a Renault Laguna or something? You'll probably find an older Primera for that money, too.

If yo go for something like a sunny or micra, of which there are load available for £500 or less then 100k+ mileage isn't a big issue so long as it's got stamps roughly every 10k. I picked up a sunny for £400 with 130k on the clock which never missed a beat.
