    MotoGP Donington Park 2007, anyone?

    Hey all,

Is anyone off to Donington Park for the MotoGP this month? Im camping from Thursday to Monday and im quite looking forward to it, by the looks of it its a huge event with much happening aside from the racing

Any other Hexites off to Donny? Be quite good to say hello and meet each other if so

    Cheers,

I went last year - it's a cracking day. You could hear the bikes warming up in Catle Donnington Village on the way there

    Pity it's so damn expensive!

Nah we just went on race day - I was all up for going on the bike then 2 days before the race, the missus went and put her back out - so we had to go by car, which was just wrong - i felt so dirty...

Camping is deffo the thing to do - by the time we got into the track most of the good spots were taken - so at least you should get a good viewing spot!

Here are few shots I took last year:

Have you seen the transport and traffic schedule from the Donny website?

I've never been for the MotoGP, but I'd be staggered if you couldn't park on the free field they normally open up.

There's a paid camping site (which we also parked in) and a separate field which is normally totally free and open to vehicles - just around the corner from the Donny Collection, between McLeans and Coppice (obviously outside the track perimeter though!). Last year they even put up free toilets and shower facilities in it, which at least at first were in perfect condition, though they did get a bit grubby as the weekend wore on.

Last year during the Le Mans Series, on the Friday I think it was, we just walked into the paddock, then the into pitlane, and when no one stopped us, we walked onto the track (there was no racing at that time, just some drivers running around it). Did a full lap with the drivers and still no one stopped us. It was awesome. You get so much more respect for the drivers when actually on the track than watching it from the side. The corners all seem much tighter than when you're spectating, and you can appreciate some of the little details.

Yeah I was at the Le Man last year too, Saturday to Monday but stayed at the farmhouse not the Donny campsite...

Im quite looking forward to it now, I read the weekend schedule and traffic/camping sheet they request you read and it states that no cars are allowed on the campsite. All shuttle busses from the car parks (down the Melbourne hairpin upto Foggy) to and from the campsite. They also recommend not using your car over the weekend to ease congestion LOL

I didn't shoot those in RAW - I only had the camera a few weeks before. But I now have an EOS-20D and shoot in RAW all the time - far better and easier to process afterwards - just a LOT bigger file size...
