Trapped Water

Ive got a problem with my 1994 subaru impreza sportswagon.

The problem ive got is recently ive noticed a sloshing sound of water coming from the left side of the car coming from the floor, when accelerating/braking/going up or down hills, it seems to run from what sounds like the rear passenger door to the front pasenger door, originally I thought it was the windscreen wash, as I was getting low on it, but after filling that up, its still there, and for the life of me I cant work out where its coming from/how to get it out. Ive given the doors a good shake and it doesnt appear to be there, so any advice would be much appreciated

Where abouts is the petrol tank in the SW? are you sure it isnt that?

the petrol tank is on the right handside of the car, and the noise has only been happening in the past few weeks.

might have a blocked drain hole or 2, time to jack it up and jetwash away the crud maybe ?

Yes, most likely cause -trapped rain water. If you cant find a drain hole then drill one. My mate and I used to inject oil into the sills - seal the drain holes and let it gush about inside the sills, never had any problems with rust. Mind you that was oil not water .

Ok, after a quick look I couldnt see any drain holes, but thinking about it, it would make sense! Only being on the left, and with the recent rain, I have had to drive through quite a few mini floods/puddles on the leftside of the roads!

So any ideas once ive got the thing up in the air, where aprox the holes if any will be located?

Might a be a plan to buy a haynes manual that will tell you a hell of a lot about the assembly and disammembly of your car. Along with technical specs and so on

Unfortunatly there are no haynes manuals well at least not for mine.

Bugger lol, erm well good luck fixing it, you know how excellent I am with cars! Have you tried any owners club forums ?

So far Ive had a few good suggestions, but not the right thing

By the sounds of it, it maybe a blocked drain-hole, hopefully there will be enough sun 2mrow, so I can jack it up and have a look!

The drain holes will be where the sill meets the floor, give it a clean then look for a raised area in the joint and stick a small screwdriver up

you may find big bungs as well as drain holes, just take your time and give it a good clean underneath

If its not a bad day, Il probabily take it to my uncles, cause hes got a jack, and more than likely some sort of car ramp/stand, and more importantly a pressure washer
