For my first car...
I am either going to get a Citroen Saxo! or a Ford Fiesta??
Which do you think would be better?
I like the saxo looks more than fiesta's but which is more reliable?

Fiesta seconded and thirded.
Saxos are tinny little cans.
Fiesta..
Or.. Favia? Yaris? They run forever with minimal fiddling..
(try getting something different from what every 17 year old gets and immediately crashes to minimise insurance pain)

Fiesta. Parts are cheap and easy to find than their french equivalant.
What is your budget...? The Fabia is a great little car!
"In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?"
Fiestas are actually decent little cars for what they are though, Saxos are just plain rubbish

Yup, but insurance will suck because it's one of the most picked first cars..

My budget is about £750! If you wanna suggest a nice, reliable and different that other first time cars...then feel free
If you also wanna find me one? not too far from cw12 4ed then i would also appreciate it!
Nissan Micra - hella cheap (compared to others) and very reliable. I had mine 7 years and no problems at all, my brother is still driving it. You can get a very nice 1l n-p reg for that money. ('97 P reg, prolly about 80k miles and sound as a button)
Say not to SAXO... they are really expensive to insure coz of all the boy racer types... my sister had one and it was pants and fell apart.

Hmm right. i wasnt sure about insurance on saxos...but i know fiestas are reliable...Nissan Micra i didnt really consider them! I might do now though!
What about Peugeot 106?
How reliable are those?
Fiesta
Although reliable is a relative term.
106 = expensive Saxo
Built by the same people with the same parts so expect similar things.
Polo is another sub-£750 possibility. Fiesta breaks more often but cheaper to repair. Ends up evens. Fiesta more fun to drive.

What age of fiesta might you be talking about? or just fiesta in general?
As said dont bother with the 106 or saxo unless they are the able engined versions, which they are not going to be for that money.
Get yourself a fezza
The micra is good, however you will get ripped for owning one wheras the fezza maintains some kind of status.
Friend drives like a grandad and has owned a based P-reg Fiesta (droopy headlight vn I forget the MK) for 6-7years.
On top of the usual servicing and running repairs of a 100k mile car he's had rear suspension arms replaced, front wheel bearings, the heater only blows hot, the radio LCD has pooled in the middle and refuses to work. Last time we went for a ride bits of trim were falling off, something was squeaking from the rear wheels and he daren't drive above 60 as he doesn't trust the brakes - don't ask my why!
Even then I know there have been a number of other components that have rusted or failed.
Most likely he has a 'Friday Afternoon Car' as I know others that have owned Fiesta's,had no trouble, and think they're the best thing since sliced bread.
Even so I still reckon the Fiesta is the best of the two choices you gave, just make sure you give it a thorough going over before you buy!
