Golf 1.4TDi? You either mean a Golf 1.9 or a Polo 1.4 as that combination of the Golf and the cracking 3cyl Turbo Diesel never happened.

Doubt it would have enough grunt to turn the lardy prop of the Golf tbh.

Try a Google search for "insurance group search" - the ABI have a definite list.
Stick in the car details at wisebuyers and it should give you the approx value and insurance group.

Good Luck.
306 GTI6 is group 16, just phoned my mate who has one.
As Shad said, for cars less than 10 years old Parkers Technical Data Section lists all models and insurance groups.
Golf MKIV's came with the following diesel engines in the UK:
1.9SDi (68hp) Grp4
1.9TDI (90hp) Grp8
1.9TDI (100hp) Grp6/8/10
1.9TDI (110hp) Grp10
1.9TDI (115hp) Grp10 Red i
1.9TDI (130hp) Grp13 Red Di
1.9TDI (150hp) Grp13/15 Red TDi?
Multiple Grps shows the spread between different models with the same engine.
I used to know exactly how the coloured the letters but other nerdy info has taken its place
No sure but methinks 100, 130 and 150 were all PD units but little searching would find out.

Thanks for the help!
I meant 1.9 TDI. Sorry about that.
Choosing my first car now, Which one would people recommend? Peugeot D Turbo 1.9/2.0 or Civic 1.3?
I heard the Peugeot D Turbo can be screw modded? Whats that?
Im sorry, but first car, you really dont need to know what screw modding is.
Insurance is going to hurt you badly on a standard specification car as it is..
Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net
Dont choose the GTI as a first car unless you have over 2k for insurance.
I would go with a polo 1.2
Polo 1.2 Sounds good. I'm not getting the car for another month till I turn 18 and will be putting my dad as a second driver aswell.
Money to spend on car - 1.5k
So def dont buy the GTI would be a dog.
Yeh the polos are pretty good, you can easily get a 98 99 model for that kind of money and they are prety reliable and such.
