I want to spend £10k on a car...

...I had previously settled on an RX-8.

But now I am thinking maybe I am missing out on something? What suggestions would you guys have? It needs to be more than 150 ps/bhp and be 'interesting' not like a Focus for example.

How about a Westfield, or maybe something more normal like a Mitsubishi Evo?

Not overly since the RX-8 will be pretty expensive or more so than my current car

Re: I want to spend £10k on a car...

An Evo would be insane running costs. I dont know what the S2000's or Elise's are like. But I doube even those cost as much as an Evo. You need to seriously, seriously love cars to justify running one of those.

You could always get a nice RX-7 import for around £10,000. I personally prefer them to the RX-8, of course you again need to be pretty dedicated to run them - they aren't cheap and parts/repairs can be hard to come by!

I'd love to say a Galant VR-4, but thats probably more around the 6-7,000 for a nice one so you may not be interested. 280bhp 4 wheel drive though!

Re: I want to spend £10k on a car...

Elises are fairly cheap to run, services at Lotus dealers can be a little expensive but still cheaper than Evo running costs. They're economical to drive too, 35mpg is the norm.

Can't beat good old fashioned power-to-weight

You need to be spending around 15k to get a decent S2000.

you can get a nice S2000 for less than 10000 - but I guess it depends on your exact criteria as it'd probably be at least 5 years old.

The Lotus has quite a small engine, but is light-weight - spose to be quite a fun car to drive

There are so many options, ranging from an Elise to an M5, from a sports car to a muscle-Merc (AMG etc). It rather depends what you want.

Till you have to either service or fix it?
Great cars (looked into buying one briefly before deciding against it) but horrendously expensive parts.
