Unhappy Gutted FMI didn't fit :(

Just took the car to the Powerflow West Brom, to have the IC fitted. Despite hacking the bumper up and all sorts (i now don't have a splitter) it wouldn't fit. The crossmember is just in the way, so without modding that or moving the rad it's not going to fit.

Talk about gutted, unless the whole bumper is hacked to bits it'll never fit.

Oh well, unless you try you don't find out I guess.

Yeah feel really down about it.

Still, gonna do a bit more reading up on the subject since I've seen Clios with this intercooler on so it's got to be do-able somehow. Just hope it doesn't involve a reshaping of the cross member!

maybe they take it OUT and summit else takes the stress?

Dunno...I know so little about Clios

maybe its a NEW cross member.....from a different model....or a re-inforced one to compensate for the removed metal.

    Horrid thought.....*shivers*

    Lowe,
Instead of hacking the car, can you not 'mod' the IC?
As in cut out the cross member shape - not ideal I know, but could be a soultion?
    Or am I talking balls

Zak - I've emailed the place and a lad I know who's got a Clio with a FMIC so I'll see what they say.

Eazieb - can't really mod the IC since it'll effect the sealing of it

Russ - this might be the case mate, dunno yet - more investigation to do

Biggest problem at the moment is the car looks **** without a splitter.

I was thiking of taking a slice out (where it would fir around the x-member and then re-weld where the metal had been removed, thus giving an air tight seal - though im guessing it would effect air flow
