    Thumbs up Great Roads

Went on holiday to Scotland, in Glen Coe map hopefully and there's a BRILLIANT road (B863) between Glencoe, through Kinlockleven back to the A82. Lots of fun to drive, very bendy, lots of ups and downs and hardly any traffic... what roads do you really enjoy?

    Striaght ones, no traffic.

A36 (I think) coming from Abingdon (Oxford way) to the M4, nice 10% gradient coming back, can go real fast if you tried!

A272. There is even a book about it 'An ode to a Road' (at all good book shops....)

Its lots of fun in dads C43 AMG. Straights, fast bends, slow bends, up down, hidden dips.

Burys Bank Road in Newbury which runs along the edge of the old Greenham air base. Some wonderfuly rewarding corners (when there arent any duffers in the way) with 2 straights just long (and wide) enough for overtaking.

Not much of a challenge anymore tho, kinda know all the braking points and best lines. Good fun tho

Flanderz: Do you mean the A34? That joins the M4 at 13 (which is now a bomb site by the way, avoid at all costs)?

Any fool can drive fast in a straight line tho, no fun if you ask me
    Simon

There are some good roads near me. I'm always on the look out for a good road.

When we were in cumbria there were some brilliant roads around there, between Ulswater and Windermere.

A449 from wall heath to kidderminster on a sunday afternoon. hardly any old duffers, just loads of bikers and people out for a nice fast afternoon drive in the sun. nice twisty but fast road, quite a few dips, great fun.

A57, AKA The Snake Pass - in between me at uni and home. lovely road, very dangerous if you're not careful, but when you've done it as many time as i have, you can easily out pace bmw 330ci's / motorbikes. brilliant stuff. will get some vids done of some acceleration and cornering when the work is done on my car

Agreed, the A456 can be a whole lot of fun as well in the NSL limits. Shame it's full of coppers with laser guns now.

The Mountain Circuit... heheeh.. once you get out of Douglas (5mins) there's virtually no speed limits, apart from a few villages dotted about the course. 37.5 miles, 1250' climb and super fast twisty bits. marvellous. Fun is NOT in a straight line

apparently there are new speed cameras on Stourbridge Ring Road, Lowe. they are some experimental thing that don't use road markings or summat.

Agreed, there are some wicked roads in Cumbria, on the other side as well, from Ambleside down through Coniston to Spark Bridge is a wicked one Best out of season though !

The A50 Staffs-Derbyshr (the Pink Road) is also a demon although made worse when they put the dual-carridgeway bypass in a few years back... was more fun before with the Hidden Dip near Toyota (the villlage) LOL!
