rastamanblues, the auto is a semi-auto. You can put it in all-out auto which functions as a normal auto would. It's smooth but not as smooth as my brother's Lexus, but, didn't expect it to be. I'm definitely happy with my choice though - I far prefer to have the option of a good auto mode. If I'm in traffic or going through lots of traffic lights, I hate fiddling with gears so I pop it onto auto.
If you want to drive manual, you just switch it over and use the flappy paddle thingies on the steering wheel - they're ace! I'm having a lot of fun using those. I'm generally a very safe driver and stick to speed limits, but it's fun playing with the paddles as you get to rev higher and hear the car.
The car makes an awesome sound when it slows down and comes to a stop. I don't know what causes it but sometimes I pull up to a traffic light and it sounds like I'm coming out of warp-drive. Ace!
The best bit is probably the driving position. It's literally a cockpit, you're surrounded with everything you need and it feels to comfortable and precise. Or maybe I'm just biased cause I love the thing.
