Which online dealer, broker or supermarket

Where would you recommend purchasing a new car online. There is something very unnerving about adding an item as big and expensive as a car to an online shopping basket and pressing send. Falling prey to some bogus website offering a bargain price must be a very real risk and one to be avoided. If anyone has had a positive dealings with a particular online broker or car supermarket please let me know. Nothing exciting in the car department I'm afraid... just you're plain old boring diesel or LPG estate vauxhall Astra or Skoda Fabia. I just want practical economical A-B transport for 2 people, 2 hang gliders, harnesses & a wind sock. Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't buy a car on-line, it's a bit of a gamble. Especially if it's second hand! I'd of thought you'd want to at least see the car, it's condition and test drive it before you buy it?

www.jamjar.co.uk and www.fish4cars.co.uk are both quite good iirc. The best thing to do is get a good quote from one of them, then try and get an official dealer to match that price, that way you get the best of both worlds.

Surely they wouldn't do that! That's like printing off a priice list from OcUK or somewhere and going into PC World saying, gimme your goods at these prices.

It worked for me and my sister, I got a grand knocked off my clio, and my sister did abou the same off her 206. If you say that you'll buy it online unless they can match the price, then theyre after your custom enough that theyll tend to do it. If they wont, you can still test drive the car etc, then go and buy it online anyway!

I'm sure doing something like that does help Big_Al, its showing you've got the intention to buy, i.e your going down to price as the key factor to buying the car, if you are doing this then the salesman could certainly have a chance of making a sale.

But having recently bought a Car i'd never do it online, you need to go look round it, visit the dealership your buying it off etc. Take test drives in the car etc.

I did it with my Clio S, saved a grand by using the online price as barter, got a free bootCD changer and mats all because the man loves jamjar offers lol
