Saying speeding kills is like saying guns kill, its down to circumstances....

You cant drive a car and not have sped at somepoint, its nigh on impossible, even more so with modern cars that take the "feeling" away from driving, and who said anything about driving recklessly and putting people lives in danger...

That's completely different. Most people speed nowadays, yet how many people do you know who carry guns? I know that not all speeders are lucky enough to avoid accidents, but that doesn't mean that it's ok to do it, as long as the risk is small...

I'll just say this, I hope you guys never have to actually witness a bad speeding accident, let alone be in one. You'll never want to drive again if you do (unless you're crazy!). And if you ever cause an accident that takes a life, would you be able to look at yourself in the mirror and sleep well at night?

Speeding is reckless, otherwise it wouldn't be illegal...

i disagree on that point al - some speeding is reckless, but doing a 75 on a motorway is not any more reckless than 70. also think of where they drop speed limits - if a road was 40 last week and is now 30, does that mean everyone who did 40 then was reckless?

finally, running round naked isnt reckless, but you can still be arrested for it cos its still illegal.

im not dissagreeing that 200mph, whatever the conditions, on a open road, is illigal, im mearly dissagreeing that all speeding is illigal. a common misconception is that you can drive at any speed on autobahns - there is no speed limit however if a coppa deems your speed to be dangerous then he will nick you.. ie anything much over 120 isnt really acceptable..

    Just wondering.

I think there is something like a 10% tolerance on speed limits in the UK isn't there? I'd accept that on motorways, but it should be zero tolerance anywhere else. Why is there a need to drive 40mph in a 30mph zone? And if it was changed, then people should take more note of road signs. And when I talk of being reckless, I'm talking about racing/showing off, not doing 80mph in the fast lane of a clear motorway.

Dancing naked is just silly, I'm trying to have a decent discussion about this (though most people will think I'm just trolling).

Trig, I think that's rather an unfair comment, aren't I allowed to have my opinions of speeding? Or is the Cars and Bikes forum exempt from the rules of Hexus now? If I mentioned anything illegal in the other forums and supplied video clips it would probably be removed, but on here it seems that trying to be legal is condemned...

I didnt mean it as an unfair comment, you have your opinions and seem to feel strongly about them, I dont have a problem with that but you seem rather quick to anger and from where I'm sitting there seems little point in persuing this thread further now as its lost its original track and probably makes no difference to either of us...

Al.....unfortunately we gotta stop this one here.

I gotta say..killing people is bad..its horrible...so why did I enjoy watching Battle Royale last night?

Cant answer that myself....but I did.

Speeding is an offense.....but its only an offense in the country at that time....ie if the vid was on a German Autobahn.....it may have been acceptable...

is THAT right? Cos its LEGAL....

Doing 15 mph past a school is safe....30 mph is deadly...but its legal.

Matter closed.....this IS cars n bikes......cars are designed to go faster than the law permits.

I've been in a few nasty ones. Luckily we didnt die.

I think the world had more problems with people smoking in public places tbh....

Ok, I won't say anymore on the subject, except for this:

    a) Sorry for the rant, but it is a touchy subject for me so I'll try and just ignore these threads in the future

    b) I hope people can be a bit less enthuiastic about speeding and racing on this public forum, I feel that that video should have been shared via other means

    c) I hope people can understand the reasoning behind my rant and respect my beliefs that all excessive speeders should be hung, drawn and quatered.

:edit: P.S. It also doesn't help that I've had a really bad day at work today and that also stressed me out big time!
