Yup, last weekend was rally sweden, following on from Monte Carlo.
In Monte Carlo Sebastien Loeb in his Citeron rained supreme, but as we ALL know, Sweden is where hearts and cars are broken.
Day 1, old snow on the ground, dirt gravel and ice! Horrid? HELL NO this is Sweden, count yourselves lucky. Martin in his Focus RS was top after day 1.
Then, shock horror, it snowed in Sweden. Lots of snow. gravel and traction were hard to come by, and snow and ice rained supreme. But Martin was 40 secs clear of Sebastien Loeb, and surely favourite... he was flying, like a mad man, and not even the snow drifts could stop him... unless, there was a rock hiding in the snow banks, crunch, bye bye rear axel, bye bye focus bye bye 10 points. with martin out Loeb and his citeron powered into first place followed by Marcus Gronholm in his Pug. The Subaru of Solberg took up 3rd place at the close of day 2.
Day 3, more snow, but Loeb was 40 secs clear, and he didnt ease up. Winning the rally by a good 46 secs at the end of the day. Martin could only push 7th after having lost so much time with the broken axel.
So thats 2 outa 2 for Leob who tops the charts with 20
Gronholm in 2nd with 8
and Peter Solberg with 6
Theres a long way to go tho chaps, and next up is Mexico 12-14 march, can any 1 say gravel rash? my money is on Solberg for this 1.
