My Dad has an old (G reg I think) Astra 1.4 automatic in not a pretty state (will clean up well though) and it's just passed it's MOT. Runs perfectly well. What do you think he could get for it?

He'll be lucky to get £500 for it I reckon. Have a look on www.autotrader.co.uk and see what similar cars are going for. Obviously a year's MOT is a good selling point, but it's still an old banger at the end of the day.

if it has power steering.... £300

    if not...

    absolutely nothing at all

soz man...but theres much nicer cars out there, newer with higher spec, for les than £500 everywhere....the auto only saves its ass if its got power steering.

However....someone might want it for the engine (Nova SR etc) or shell (Astra 3door only)

    Luck dude

Mileage, I'm pretty sure it hasn't broken 100k yet... I'll check it out. Def G reg. Yes it's got a very good FSH, pretty sure it all Vauxhall too. Light Blue. Rust on the sides was recently repaired by a good welder, can't be too much else coz it's just passed the MOT. No alloys, standard wheels. And no power steering.

    Probably zilch then...

you might get £200 for it - its got 12 months mot so someone will pay the money cos it works out about 75p/day for motoring..

Yeah, I'd say it's worth £200, or maybe £250 to somebody who just wants an old banger to potter about and do the shopping in. If the MOT sheet doesn't show any potential nasties you ought to get 12 more months gentle motoring out of it.

If you've got a local free ads paper put it in at £300ono and see what happens. If you only get offered £200 for it so be it.
