i regret booking my wifes corsa into vauxhall mansfied for an MOT and service so the recall work could be done at the same time, i thought it would have saved a lot of time and effort, how wrong am i.
the wife got a phonecall saying it had failed its MOT on a split CV gaiter, they said it would be £115 to replace it.
I said no way i would get the work odne elsewere.
saturday morning i phone up to find the parts £7.99 and figure what the hell im going to do it myself to save some money.
I jacked the car up and took a look to find nothing wrong with the CV gaiter, but one of the clamps holding it on has come adrift, its cost me £3 for a new clip and a sachet of CV grease.
on closer inspection i find the inner lip of the gaiter 100% intact meaning theres no reason whatsoever to change the part.
more annoyingly when i read through the paperwork vauxhall have done a seperate visual health check before the MOT (during the service) and listed that it has just come adrift, and also quoted £115 for a new £1.50 clip.
not at any stage did they phone before the MOT to say they had found this during the service, instead they fail the car so we have to pay the retest fee
needless to say i am now sat waiting for the service manager to phone me back with there BS explination..
