Those pictures were taken at Prodrive HQ in Banbury- I've been there. When I did some work experience there in '99 most of the bodywork was carbon fibre, I guess they just left it unpainted this time. Don't like the spoiler much TBH, pretty fugly.

ye i agree rich, they've only just started using it, due to laws that have only just come in for the WRC, so they got everything super light.

    Eugh!

Looks horrid! If it makes it go fast then fair enough - good luck to them. Just don't release the parts so Kev down the road can stick it to his Fiesta :-/

The boot lids of the cars I worked on (Richard Burns' 99 Finland car, and Juha Kankkunen's(sp?) 99 Argentina car IIRC) were both Carbon Fibre. Weighed sod all. Actually I'm almost certain that all the body panels were. I was pretty amazed that a car with nothing in it, and Carbon fibre bodywork apparently weighs 1250KG....I guess they make the shell as light as possible, then put ballast low down and as central as possible to improve the handling.

Anyway, that's beside the point, they've been carbon fibre for a few years.

BTW, that car is set up for gravel and dust, so it won't look as cool as a tarmac car.

    Rich :¬)

Edit: I've just posted this, and already I'm doubting myself. Maybe it was the boot support struts that were CF. TBH you probably know more about WRC technical regs than me Russ.
