I think we all bought the wrong cars... Why? Because I've just found what £2000 could buy you

It'll have the running costs associated with a £50k car though. Which is why, I guess, not all of us bought one

Think I prefer my 1997 P reg Lexus, was only £500 more but has a better engine, is smoother and looks more modern inside and out.

    And it won't go wrong

V6 Jag, or V8 Lexo-Luxobarge! All the toys you could ever want, and will survive a Nuclear holcaust!

Not sure id like to have to be the one footing the fuel bill though!

They didn't start making V6 jags until the S-type in circa-99. All 6-cylinder X300s have straight sixes. A very good straight six, in fact.

But that one only has half leather by the look of it? How cheap is that?!

Personally I'd be going for one of these:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=002

(for anyone who stumbles across this thread in the future when they ebay link is long dead, it's a blue 98/S-reg BMW 740i, cream leather w/contrasting piping, all the toys, 18" multispoke alloys, sold for £2200).

My Dad drives a 740. Really nice cars but I wouldn't want the running costs.

Saw an 80k 1999 Nissan Maxima QX for 1.3k - that would be quite nice and comfy, reliable, and not too thirsty compared to jags. 0-60 in 14 secs though. Woot?!
