The new Registration Certificate has been developed to comply with the European Directive 1999/37/EC, which requires member states to introduce a common format for Registration Certificates no later than June 2004. This will help with the identification of vehicles in international traffic and may be used for re-registration throughout the European Union. Compliance with the directive will result in additional information being recorded on the document. So we will all have new V5C docs by the middle of next yearFrom June 2004 until June 2005 Registration Certificates will continue to be issued in these circumstances but will also be automatically sent to keepers shortly after they tax their vehicle or notify DVLA that a vehicle is being kept off the road

Meaning that they charge over the odds for the smallest of things these days, and they keep changing the rules to introduce yet more things they can charge silly amounts for..Originally Posted by Barakka

full liscence 18 quid
thats 120 quid to get a driving lisence.
Ah, see what you mean, it's gone up a bit since I passed ! Plus there was no Theory test. On the plus side though, don't take any more money from you once you've passed, even issuing a new licence when you move house is free ! Although getting points taken off isn't

Well, the tests would cost money as you have actual people examining you, you can't really expect to pay less than what they charge for an examiner to go out with you for an hour. They also have overheads and stuff. Licences themselves sound a little steep, but i am not sure what checks they make for the provisional one, so there may be a fair amount of work involved.
It sounds impressive when you say 120 quid for the license, But the tests are in that price too. You might as well include the 20 lessons in there @13-15 quid each - thats another 300 pounds.
Theory test could probably do with being cheaper (although i don't know how much more the hazard awaresness costs now).
Tough on mirrors, tough on the causes of mirrors.
Replacement V5 - £35! WTF!
Oh yes they do, you now have to renew every 10 years for a new photo and they charge you each time for the priviledge, and they charge extra to upgrade the actual license card with extra categories on top of the test fees.Originally Posted by Barakka
and not to mention the fact that all new drivers are on 2 years probation meaning if you get 6 points in the first couple of years your license is null and void, and you have to do *everything* over, theory test included..
They keep adding on things that are now chargable and never were., and you can bet those extra fees are only going to go upwards as well..
