Yup he wants the balance of the warranty intact - he happily admits his reliability paranoia runs deep.

I guess the reason he's avoiding Vauxhall (funny noone mentioned an Astra) is the Corsa VXR that should be in the carpark. It's done 12k miles, less than 18 months old, two weeks ago had a new gearbox for a 'known fault' and over the weekend the engine blew - suspected big-end!

Shame as I really like the little Corsa, it looks great, goes well and is a Vauxhall I'd almost own ..... until now.


Anyway he's making life more difficult by insisting 2l at most to preserve some semblance of economy when not going mad. Bye bye Focus ST

Look for the very recent ones, though you'll not get 57 plate... but he'll have loads of change left over for servicing, and insurance and tax and stuff, and it wont break.

The Celica Blue was a nice special edition, (not only in blue).

The normal bhp one, not the monster, is very economical, lovey to drive, and they hold good value

Was my thought too, but depends if he'll move on the age part, the last ones were 06, maybe at a push a late registered one or two on the 56 plate.

And could always go for the monster one if he like the image the GT edition is nice looking, in an in your face way, the economy's not too bad if you don't use lift too much and a fair comparison if he's looking at the CTR.

Astras are great for bang for buck when you're spending less than 5k If you're getting a more expensive car for thrills then unless you only get your thrills racing people in a straight line at traffic lights then there are much better hot hatches.

Got the engine out of the 750 - its quite big got a spare front subframe to use to mock up the engine mounts now.
