Dont care about all this blue crap.... just wondering whether the extra £3 is worth it for the other bulbs.....

If ya read the description on the £9.99 bulbs it says 6000k bulbs are out of focus... yet he is selling 7500k which surely are out of focus too?

Should i buy the £9.99 or £12.99 ones?

I say £9.99. Don't try and pretend you have HID lamps by fitting blue bulbs, what a waste of time.

I couldn't absolutely prove it, but from my moderately detailed knowledge of optics and physics I would say his focus diagram is a total crock. You would only need sharp focus if you wanted a spotlight with a tight beam that can light up something a long distance away. A headlight is more of a floodlight, the whole point is that the light is diffused over a reasonably wide area rather than focussed.

RiDE magazine did a test of a load of headlight bulbs last month; they were testing on bikes obviously but that shouldn't make much difference. Although some bulbs were better than others the differences were very minor and there wasn't a single poor bulb. The expensive bulbs didn't seem to be worth the extra.

Wait a second. No Halogen bulb can give you 7500K colour temperature.

Halogen filaments are at about 3000K. Most HID bulbs are 4100-4500K and anything higher is significantly more expensive and blue-purple.

Either get yourself some decent H4 bulbs (Why are these Renault Megane bulbs anyway, surely they are either H4 or they aren't!), or buy a HID conversion kit!

Marketing... Its capturing a certain market! Renault owners!

I'd imagine he's also selling Ford Focus bulbs which will be exactly the same product...

Nip down to Halfords (yes I know) and look at their range of bulbs. The sell their own and Bosch Xenon blubs in white and blue and in at least 4 different flavours of each. It's much better to go and have a look and try and understand than peek at ebay and hope you're getting the right bits.

Besides going to Halfords is an excuse for a drive and that's what this is all about!

    Not necessarily.

Bulbs that consume more power, and in doing so draw more amps can melt wiring.

The bulbs in question don't consume more power, so they can't melt his wiring!

Watts are a measure of electrical power, not light. Filament bulbs are in fact heaters that just so happen to throw off a bit of light as a by product. A combined 110 watt high beam will only be using about 20%, or 22 watts to produce light, the rest is heat.

This is one of the bonuses of H.I.D lights, due to being closer to 80% efficient, rather than 20%, they give out a hell of lot more light for the heat they produce.

Anyhow, back to the original q, osram or phillips +30% H4s are good for the money, just avoid the blue tinted ones. For starters they are tacky, and second to get the blue tint they have to absorb light from the rest of the spectrum...
