Very odd and I think Mercedes would be stupid not to keep Button.

Button hasn't been confirmed to leave, and I think people are jumping to conclusions. OK, it could happen, but I think it will be more stupid of Button to go to McLaren. I don't think he'll be able to match Lewis when the car is slightly off, Lewis has an ability to make the best of a bad car, and we've seen Button has massive problems when the cars is even slightly off - he just didn't match Rubens at all at the end of the season when the car wasn't as dominant.

Be intereting to see what the Merc team can do next year, with the backing and money of a big manufacturer.

Also - Mercedes GP is a horrible name!

Button doesn't need to 'decide' where to go, from the reports there will be no seat at Mercedes since they want an all German line up, leaving McLaren as the only top seat to go to.

Here's hoping Kimi doesn't get the drive or Jenson will either be off the grid or at one of the new teams!

After all Brawn achieved this year it's a little saddening to see the name disappear, however, how long has it been since we've had a British 1-2 with both drivers in the same team?

The prospect of this, more teams (more back-markers creating havoc too), more circuits and no in-race refueling, I can't wait for 'til next season starts.

Agreed. Apart from no refuelling sucks - no more drama with fuel hoses....
But, the main speed differential in recent years has been differing fuel loads and strategies. I'm just hoping this will mean people will pass on the track, or there may just be a bigger emphasis on Quali and one lap specialists, then holding up cars and managing tyres....

Interesting point although I suspect Ross will be more than happy to see his name less prominant. While he dealt with the media attention extremely well I always got the feeling he was slightly uncomfortable - embarrased maybe - that it was his name that was getting praised. I'm sure he'd be happier pushing the whole team to the fore to share the limelight.


Funny how one TV News report last night said McLaren and Mercedes had bought the Brawn team. They seem to have overlooked the fact McLaren will be buying back the Mercedes stake in the team over the next few years.
