    Re: Malaysian GP

It was great to see Vettel win at last having had the opportunities but falling due to reliability. Annoying it is another 2 weeks until the next race in China

Anyone know where those race photos they used to have on the bbc f1 site went? It was on the right hand side near the bottom of the page. Used use them as desktop pictures

And yes, I totally agree that Renault's engineers just seem to 'fall behind' in both their engines and cars. It's strange how Renault don't seem to spot places for innovation and then complain when others do.
I know that they didn't get equalisation this year but you can't tell me or even believe that any 'reliablility improvements' that they have made wouldn't have the 'side effect' of increasing performance.

I must say though, I am not surprised Mercedes didn't want to supply Red Bull (I know there were rules over the number of teams etc but I am sure that there would have been a work around with the amount of money involved). A Red Bull with a Merc engine would be uncatchable at the moment.

I can't see the changes making the leap in performance that Renault need to catch up on power but and the fact that Ferrari and Mercedes will be doing the same thing with there engines. They'll be pushing cost cuts on parts and changes for reliability as well - but they won't get any media attention for this. I think the only reason there was for the Renault changes was because Renault wanted equalisation and they didn't get it.

Yeah, from what I know, Mercedes were very close to supplying Red Bull this year before the buy-out of Brawn was announced, and were confident that they would be allowed to by the FIA. This was amongst the talks of Renault maybe walking out as well.
