And now for something completely different...

Well it is cars and bikes after all

Some pics from Sunday's riding, but here are the best:

Perfect balance, until he fell off

Me on a *cough* warm up jump

This is great, but it leads to this...

    Bye bye £1200 frame

    Near vertical drop off

Looks great but it was a complete fluke!

    Nuff said

    Got air?

    All good fun

    Sweet.

What part of the frame was it that failed? I cant make it out in the pic...I'd be pretty angry if I'd paid that much for frame only for it to fail like that...

No Warranty?. and not to be stingy but weld it back together again?.

Pictures are great if a little dark, but the air on some of those jumps looks amazing.

The pic of the crack doesn't show it all, it's very long and goes right through 2 welds and a large area of tubing. It's where 2 parts of the swing arm come together just above where it pivots with the rest of the frame, so could probably get away with just a new swing arm. Another jump though and it would probably have failed.

As for warrenty... he's probably gonna send it back to Marin but it's over 12 months old anyway. Plus, it's a cross country frame, not designed to take repetitive landings and jumps, so they might just point and laugh.

thats what happens when you buy marins isn't it under warranty? i know they are pretty damn tight when it comes to claiming on the warrantys though. where are the trails you were riding?

It's not my cracked frame tho

Mine's the blue '97 GT Timberline, with extras

They probably are holes from WW2 though, the one with the near vertical drop off is pretty huge, hard to imagine what else would've have created it short of a small meteor (sp?). It's all in Tidmarsh which is just outside Pangbourne which is about half way between Newbury and Reading. There's some fantastic down hill stuff there too.

Umm, first thing - Marin frames are Life-time warrantied...... BUt, you won't get it. Why? I noticed in the picture there that there are triple-clamp forks fitted on that frame. It was, in all likelyhood NOT supplied like that, and THAT will invalidate the warranty. Sorry pal

Tumble, as I said mate it's not my bike so I don't know all the details; I guesstimated the 12 months thing cos it's the norm for most things. As far as I'm aware though the forks are standard.
