I own a 2001 Focus 1.8 TDI. Old fashioned reliability. It's got 380K km's on it now, or some 250K miles. Thing is: it just won't break down. However, knocking on wood and all that, at some point in time I see myself shopping for a new(er) one. From the years 2005-2007 the model you see the most in Holland now is a 1.6 TDCi. I have doubts as to the reliability of a tdci as compared to the tdi, as well as doubts towards the reliability of a 1.6 liter engine. I do my yearly amount of appr. 40.000 motorway-miles. If I'd be looking for a next car it'd probably be a focus of about 4 yrs old and with around 100K miles on it. Anyone with experience on the reliability of smaller and more modern Ford diesel engines?
