Nitrous might be bad for emissions...dont know or care...though I find it highly unlikely I would engage it during an MOT test
Insurance covers me fine for the installation, suggest you check out the policies offered at the nitrous manufacturers websites....
To get back ontopic I am not really interested in arguments re legality, I am happy and contented on that score regardless of what you say.
i am more interested of comments made by people regarding personal use or constructive info.

Will you have it always running a little or just little bursts?
Are you going for wet or dry system?

It's legal, and people are getting insured with it.

It will have an on/off switch in the car together with a progressive controller to pulse in nitrous in ever increasing volume dependent on speed and gear. It means more gentle, controllable power and longer life from the 11lb bottle.
It'll be a wet system, injected in for about 100bhp output, though will be testing and monitoring from lower to ensure as few issues as possible. Different size jets are £3 each so not expensive to change as required.
Oh, and yes, mine is the GTO twin turbo. A group from the owners club have banded together to get a good discount.

Technically it's called Nitrogen Dioxide, not just Nitrous Oxide

Yes it would. Nitrous firstly has to "armed" before it becomes available. You can run the car without, or when you feel the need, flick the switch to "arm" the system. Secondly, Nitrous is ONLY injected at FULL throttle - You have a microswitch on the throttle pot to activate it. The only emmisions tests where an engine it revved to WOT (wide open throttle) is a diesel test. A standard petrol emmisions test is carried out (depending on age of vehicle) either at idle speed only, or a medium revs (NOT full throttle) followed by an idle test.Originally Posted by TeePee
