Question Is it hard to fix corrosion on car wheels and some kerbing ?

Had a quote for £300 to fix some corrosion on my car wheels and some kerbing. Just wondering how much work goes in to it ? cant you just sand the corrosion away then buy a can of something and re-spray ?

depends if you can be arsed to have the tyres removed, sandblasted back to metal, filled, primed and sprayed then several coats of finish.

theres a place on ebay that will do an exchange for less than that mind you. its still about £270.

There was a guide on here for refurbing alloys, might be of some use, quite time consuming though

You certainly can. You can, in fact, do pretty much any job yourself. It's just a question of whether the time expended is worth the money saved.

My car runs on lightweight Michelin steels- they're pretty tired, and replacements are 45 quid each on ebay. But I'd rather spend that £180 on a new cam, because I care about how my car drives, not how it looks.

A local place in my area did my wheels for £255

That was including fixing a pitted area and fitted new tyres/valves + balancing

I would recomment an AutoGlym wheel brush and wheel cleaning spray to get some of that muck off

Might be worth contacting a local mobile dent repair person as well, they should be able to give a rough quote just from those pictures if they can fix it.

I paid £160 to get my first set done a few years ago, but i heard the same company is charging £200, i wouldn't pay anymore, i know of at least 3 finishing places within 5 miles of my house so i my advice to you would be to look for more and compare prices.

Personally i wouldn't bother trying it myself, a good metal finishing company will do a truly excellent job.
