    Where to sell my car?

    Hi all,

Since changing jobs my car's not seen too much use and my gf also has a car, so starting not see much point in keeping it, especially after the service bill in Feb.

So just wandering if anyone has any experience they can share?

I see there are quite a few cash for car type places, auto trader and ebay?

So any opinions, suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

You could try Ebay? Maybe jump on the owners club forums? get some advice about price to expect. What car is it?

Re: Where to sell my car?

I've sold a couple of cars on Gumtree, its browsed because afaik its still owned by Ebay but its free to list cars, when your ad gets old just relist it again and again, don't pay them to bump the ad, its free to list and relist.

Pistonheads is another good site, seems to be a lot of cars for sale on there Bristol upwards, not a lot down in the west country, remember to put your telephone number (mobile) in the listing text because they use the safe-phone garbage that costs potential buyers 10-15p a minute or something like that personally i never bother using it, i either email or expect them to list their number in the ad like other ads.

Ebay is a good site but you will get a LOT of tyre kickers, be prepared for people to click BIN/Classified purchase without looking first, so you will need to relist, or win an auction and then turn up and try and knock the price down. I've noticed recently about 4 or 5 cars i had bid on, the sellers had got back to me with 2nd chance offers and also told me their car had been relisted due to people bidding way above the cars value then lowballing at the viewing stage.

I won't suggest local papers or autotrader as they are usually very expensive and you don't get the same coverage as you do with websites, so price per coverage your not getting good value for money.

PS. The only issue with owners clubs is that they will overvalue. Do the work yourself searching for similar age vehicles with a similar mileage and spec on the sites above, for ebay click completed listings and get an idea that way.

Re: Where to sell my car?

I sold my Megane on Pistonheads when the turbo destroyed the engine

The company were a breakers yard and travelled from Leeds on a Sunday night to collect it

Worth a shot, especially if it's uncommon or in good condition
