I'm wondering if the same is occurring elsewhere in the country. Over the past few months I've observed considerably less traffic on my daily drive from North Norfolk into Norwich. Both on the main roads and in the city. Also observed a lot more people on bike/foot, even in the winter.
Could it be that fuel prices are finally pushing some people out of cars. Perhaps the first to give up are those that could have always made their journey easily without hopping in the car?
It's made my week a little cheaper since I'm seeing nearly a 10% up on MPG. A lot of the stop start driving has been cut out and there are less instances where I have to brake and then speed up because someone has decided to 'nip out' in front of me (I tend to find people that drive 2 miles from their suburban residence to their place of work are the worst offenders).
