    I've just spent....

... a good 2hours cleaning... T-Cutting, and using Merguirs polish on my little old 1.1 K reg Metro.

    It looks STUNNING!

Now you may ask, why goto all this bother when this car is a shed... well... tomorrow I am driving my Grandad around to a Hyundai garage to test drive a car that THEY have had delivered especially to their garage so he can have a test drive in it... now thats customer service!

Now where does my little old Metro fit in? Well, the Metro is going to be the trade-in car... and I think I have just added £100 worth of value to the thing just in those 2hours (I hoovered it out the other day).

This is the plan... Grandad buys a new car, he then (either sells or gives) his Ford Escort 1.6 16v on a X plate to my parents, and I get there S reg SEAT Ibiza! Wahey!

So fingers crossed my Grandad enjoys the drive!!!

It's a Hyundai Getz CDX... it's an auto because he is due in to get an akle replacement on his left ankle so clutchless might be the way to go...

It's nothing special but it would mean I'll get a cracking deal on an Ibiza... maybe even free

I'll take pics of my car in the morning... it did look a dirty brown, but not it's a gleaming dark red

Getzs are cracking little cars! I can personally recommend them myself! Superb value.
Drive really well, even the autos, and the interior is very spacious and well designed.

Take it for a drive yourself, you won't be dissapointed! Hyundais are very under-rated.

    I'll pass your thoughts on

Another bonus with the Getz is that the roof has a high clearance, so it's easy going in and out of the car

Well... went to the garage, the car was ready for a test drive, albeit the GSi model, not the CDX... (which he wanted),

He went out in it (he's been driving 56years and never drove an auto), and he enjoyed the ride.

He was gone for about 10mins, and came back with a smile on his face.

Went back into the garage, had a cup of coffee whilst the guy phoned around a few places to see what he would offer as a trade-in for my car.

Unfortunately he could only offer me £100 for the Metro, which is a bit shocking tbh! I bought it for £600 just over a year ago, and Metro's don't depreciate that much, so he recommended me to sell it privately, which I am going to do (Metro for sale in the Nottm area if anyones interested ).

The original book price for a Getz 1.3 CDX 5-dr auto is £10,495 + £270 for Seaside blue metallic paint.

We managed to wangle in a full tank of petrol, 4 mats, £500 off the RRP price, a years road tax, 5yrs warranty, 3 years free servicing and 3 years RAC cover. It eventually took the price down to £10,099... which I think is a cracking deal.

There are only 4 1.3 CDX Hyundai Getz in the country in Seaside Blue... so it's going to be quite a unique car

Also, we got to pick the reg plate, so we picked XXXX GUD

Doesn't take me long to clean and polish my car... Probably something to do with the fact it's so small

I didn't want to say it earlier and sound disparaging, but I was pretty sure that's what would happen. No main dealer could sell a Metro however nice it is, they would have had to bung it in Autotrader or send it off to an auction to get rid of it. A private sale is definately the way forward, and the shiny paintwork will help you there, so it wasn't a waste of time.

Thats an extra 3 hours you could be driving it tho.

For me, its Zip Wax...1 1/2 hours, done. Stand back, admire, then drive knowing that getting the car dirty isn't effectively going to be pooing over an entire afternoon you spent washing it
