    Washing your lady..

    Steady on...

Do you use, a Chamois, a Sponge, a Rag - something else?

i use a sponge to clean it and a chamois to dry it, although i used to use 2 chamois, 1 to clean 1 to dry (took ages though. )

Sponge and water with washing up liquid to clean, warm, ever so slightly damp Chamois to dry.

That word annoys me. Can't it be spelt properly?

I would have thought tht soemthing designed to remove stubborn, burnt on stains from pans isn't gonna be great for your paintwork.

    sponge and turtlewax shampoo
soft brush to remove the dead wildlife from the front
    chamois to dry
old dusters (that have been washed a few times to get rid of the loose fibres) and halfords showroom polish

Washing up liquid is a big no no for my zr (rovers are renowned for their rust - wouldn't want to help it now would we) .

Would you wash a baby using exfoliating soap (the stuff with grit in it)??

Washing up liquid strips all the wax from your paint. Thats fine if you are going to wax every time...

Never, EVER use washing up liquid on paintwork. It strips the layers of wax that you've built up to protect your car from the elements!

Howard, go get some decent stuff and get some wax (not polish!) on your car ASAP!

Cleaning my car.............. i use a LARGE range of stuff..... empty wallet now too..

Rinse it off with the hose pipe to get rid of all lose dirt and dust. Bucket of hot water with a few cap fulls of Car Shampoo. (I tried the Autoglym car shampoo and its crap). I prefer the Turtlewax stuff... ( i think its turtle wax)... its more like head and shoulders hair shampoo... lovely thick creamy car shampoo. Sponge from Vauxhall cause they rock! one side is soft sponge... the otherside is harder for getting rid of the flys on the front bumper etc....

Once its covered in bubbles from the car shampoo... hose it off... LOTS of water!!! spend about 10 minutes squirting it!!! Then get ya chamois leather out.. and dry it off. Get a good one...

Leave the car to fully dry for a few hours and then attack the paintwork with a good polish. I've been using Autoglym Super Resin Polish. Seems ok for the money but im gonna try Zymol Polish or the 3 stage Meguirers.

After its polished and all gleaming I use Autogylm Extra Gloss Protection. This stuff is the daddy!!!! Basically get a clean cloth... smear it around the paintwork. Leave it to dry for 40 minutes and then buff off with a clean cloth. Its bloody good stuff...

While ya waiting for the gloss to dry for 40 minutes... ya might as well go for ya Alloy wheels..... again i've been using Autogylm stuff on the wheels... Autogylm Alloy wheel cleaner. Its strong stuff... bit like oven cleaner. It makes ya hands stink and ya skin goes tight as if ya've been in the bath for a few hours!!! A quick blast with Autoglym Tyre Dressing and the wheels and tyres look superb!!!!

Then move onto the glass cleaner.... Autoglym Glass cleaner Just like polish.... rub it on... then buff it off....

I spent 6 hours cleaning my car the other week... and that was excluding the inside (hoovering, leather treatment, etc...)
