Recently passed CBT

Hi,

I've been driving for a number of years, and recently took (and passed) my CBT. I'm after a bike to get me to, and from work, preferably around the £500 mark.

I work about 5 miles from home, but would like to be able to go a little further, comfortably, if possible. I did the CBT on a manual transmission 125, and I think that's about what I want, but I really don't have a clue on bikes.

What's in your opinions are best to get me going... I'd like to do a bigger bike license, but in a year or so - just before my CBT is up probably.

I don't like vespa type scooters, and I'd like a manual gearbox, but other than that it just needs to be roadworthy.

Any starters for 10?

For circa £500 Honda CG 125 - probably what you did the CBT on.

If you can up the budget a bit I had the Honda Varadero 125 (XL125 Varadero) - so much more comfortable - big bike sized, decent seat and riding position. So much so I kept it for nearly 3 years

Pretty much what Dave said.

My CG125 gets about 90mpg, very cheap to run, almost perfect town bike...I say almost because mine takes about 5 minutes to warm up in really cold weather.

The CG125 sounds, and looks great.

Is it an electric start? The ones I've found on ebay and autotrader either don't say, or are kick start.

90mpg sounds fabulous. Does that vary with age I assume...?

I have a 2005 CG125, its only electric Start, I think they stopped doing kick-starts after 2005, you get some earlier models with electric and kick start.
