    Land Rover have just unveiled their new power plant, which is set to go in the Discovery 3 along with the 4.0l V8 petrol option.. the TDV6 is basically what it says on the tin.. a 3.0l V6 Turbo Diesel... a variant of the engine that's in the S-Type Jag and the Peugot 407, (now that LR is owned by Ford), with the addition of a stronger crankcase moulding for extra strength off-road. It's also been tuned for maximum torque... I'll get some figures after I've been home and looked at the mag.... Should be a NICE motor

    Shame it's in a Discovery really, bit of a soft roader.

    Wahey sounds good. We are running a 300tdi in in the 110, thats a great engine for work use but without tuning or gearing changes isnt exactly the quickest thing around. Hope they have a military version of the engine with less elctronics, that would be great for off roading.

    Disco's are actually very good off-road... they have all the Hi-Lo ratios, diff locks.. and they're as modddable as a defender... more so even cos you can jack the body up easier than a Defender - it being a monocoque construction - also makes it a LOT stiffer.. and you can fit bigger tyres and suspension.. The Disco, tis a Range Rover underneath

    Disco's go VERY OFF ROAD....they are immensely good off road.

    The ONLY issue they have/had is realiability.....and hence the big countries, like Australia and Africa, never really like dthem, cos you drive 4000 miles across dessert roads, it dies,....you die

    But in the UK....in mud....they're damn good

    Still rather have a 110 over a disco. They just remind me of being at school and seeing all the rich kids getting dropped off in a different Land Rover every week. Mosto nly lived 20 metres from the school, but then again the speed bumbs were pretty high.

    Will dig out some pics of our 110. Mainly used as a works vehicle (gardening and tree work)

    Land Rovers are awsome off road, i been to the local off road club a few times with a mate and virtually all the cras there are landrovers.

    Anyone who says disco's can't do off road needs to watch a few camel trophy video's tbh, they ain't better than they're 110 support vehicles but they can still go absoloutly everywhere if you want em too.

    Unfortunatly Zak's right about the reliability and the new 110 td5's won;t be all to popular over in those countries either i imagine, they're not as cheap or easy to fix as the old ones.

    First thing you need to do with a TD5.... rip the control electronics out from under the driver's seat and stick em in a cubby in the roof..... first place that gets a soaking when one goes wading???

    The seat tubs....


    Then get that oil pump mod and bob's you're most reliable uncle
