    Question Valets?

Valets, any idea how much they cost?

Having a hell of a job getting the grime and smokey smell of the previous owner out of the mini

Cost me 20 squid for a full interior valet including carpets washed and mats washed, all dash and trim cleaned (inner sills, door cards etc etc etc) and all the leather done (leather cream etc)

Roof lining would have been extra due to it being sensitive to moisture and easy to stain.

Mine is a 5 series BMW so quite a bit bigger than a mini. Should mebbe be a bit cheaper ??

    Oh, that's not bad then

There's one here that advertises claiming to get the interior back to showroom standard, is that possible?

    Oh yes.....

My carpets were clean anyways with the very odd small stain but the mats were very grubby (stained) and they came up brand new. The dash and trim gleamed like a new car.

The products avaiable for cleaning cars are VERY good at it. Powerful cleaning without being overly harsh on the materials.

You wont beleive its the same car... I plan on getting mine done regularly simply cause £20 every 2 months or so is so much easier to me than spending 2 hours in cramped footwells and the possibility of staining carpets etc thru making them too wet.

i worked for a valeters for a bit after i left college...oh dear the things i used to see...if you need any tips tho let me know, my favourite one was if you can't get the wheels clean just by spraying acid on them, spray the dirt silver lol, i only saw this done once but this was the boss and it was a top of the line brand new lexus..

but seriously you could probably hire the gear to do it for a tenner, shampooer on all carpets and fabrics(seats etc) and a little steam cleaner thingy for all the plastics and headlining

    £80 to £100 for a real job.

But that involves seats out, wet vac etc....full days job and another to dry her.

Worth it tho....nothing worse than SMOKERS in cars *yeauch*

I know thos sounds silly but try not to MASK the smell.....ie dont use air freshners, Febreeze etc YET...

you gotta get the worst out FIRST and then eventually refresh it.

Any idea if the head lining smells?

Get your nose up there.....sniff it a lot..

get it HOT inside, heater on, windows shut....and then after its red hot inside, climb in and start sniffing.....its the only way to really smell the bad spots...

it's mainly around the driver's seat, and the back seats have stains that look like spilled kiddy drinks (even found an old hairy lolly in one of the rear cubby holes.. yuk!).. it really needs a good cleaning..

But did you tell em? No point paying for something you not happy with.

I keep toying with the idea of getting the pug done, mainly cos it needs a damn good cut'n'polish and I've never got the time or inclination to do it.

However, until I can find a decent valeter, it can stay looking filthy!
