    LOL

Well went to the mazda dealer this morning and hated the mazda 6 with a passion, however i really liked the 323's the 2L has got 133bhp which isn't bad sure its not as much as the octavia vRS but it seems quite well built, and the dealer is desperate to get rid of them and all his new car stock due to the mazda 3 coming out last this year?.

So was offered new one for £12500 or there was a year old one for 9995 or 18month old one for 9495 on the forecourt. I was quite impressed and will be going back for a test drive tommorrow morning.

However the Skoda dealer (car Nation in Northampton) was superb. They are a performance car dealer, quite small but friendly family business which i'm thinking is both a good and a bad thing, guys had there heads screwed on right and knew there stuff tho, PLUS OMFG the vRS is Excellent.

Round a roundabout at 30, to go back down a piece of road just checked for speed cameras and just squeezed the throttle and up to 90 without trying (i'd say in about 4 seconds but i was enjoying it so much its probably longer)

I was lucky enough to persuade the salesman that i needed an hours test drive to understand the car and i got it, both town conditions in northampton and some dual carriageway and then finally some twisty roads. It performed impecably. The interior matches my styling tastes and think anything else is going to be hard pushed to beat it.

The stilo 1.8 16v however was well poor, it was average this morning before the Skoda and now well its just not a patch on it.
The gear stick was well useless compared to the extremely slick box on the octavia.

Some interesting things on the skoda too, the first being the fact that it had its petrol consumption monitored, and considuring what i did i was pretty pleased when it came back with 33mpg.

I don't expect to get that round mk tho

Thing is i've got tomorrow off so i'm going to test the mazda anyway, i could have a test drive on a bora too but Zak thinks its not worth it and to be honest i think he's right, but i'll see how things go tomorrow.

Plus just like to say thanks to Zak for some damn good advice.

I will do, it will be tommorrow afternoon tho. I've convinced myself that the £12995 octavia i was looking at is a bit too expensive. Maybe i'll work out how i'm going to explain that tommorrow.

I think i know what i want and believe me i think that you'll be pleased its not a 4x4 150bhp octavia but that its probably the 2 wheel drive vRS octavia

I'm going to drop the bora test drive and see if i can arrange a focus st170 test drive tommorrow morning.

PLUS I ADMIT I was WRONG about the 4x4 octavia, its a trailer/caravan pulling car, not a nice quick car very nicely kitted interior car.

Good luck dood, cant help bit think that youll be a bit dissapointed with the ST170, its just a standard 2.0 ghia tuned up from 130 to 170bhp and lowered with bigger wheels with wider tyres. As such it drives like a tarted up 2.0 and not like the Focus RS's baby brother

You may like it (i know youll HATE the scummy blue interior)

Yes quite right the ST170 is amazing, and considuring there is no 2nd hand RS focus about and certainly not within the price bracket i can afford its a bit of a mute point.

However i was very impressed with the performance of the car, but there is a few points thats ultimately made me decide to go with the octavia vRS. First the clutch is really really heavy, i think this would annoy me after a while, I'm also not sure that i'm the sort of person that revs a car to 6 or 6.5K rpm, even tho i enjoyed Zak's little driving technique course earlier today of which I owe him a lot.

Plus I'm not really that sure that i really want a car that looks like ever other ford on the road, however good it is and believe me i really rated this car and its close run thing in two completely different cars.

But i think i'm less likely to turn into a boy racer in a skoda octavia vRS than i am in a focus st170.

    Taught you nothing...thats another day.

Today was for me to decide which car best suits you...as I never been in a car with you before.

And a longer wheel base turbo car is yours......not a short wheel base high rever.....

it would suit some people but not you. Look how you got on so well with the Vectra 2.6 GSi......much better than with an Astra.....

Wierd one of the day though......

TiG enjoyed a Corsa 1.2 16v SXi.....they always suprise people.....its a truly great car for the engine size.

However.....he could NEVER live with the need for 6000 rpm

Hes a torque man...and a gentle understeer man....good stable safe, and ultimately fast on real roads.

vRS has my seal of approval.

Once you have one....THEN we go out to play

    Glad to help
