A couple of weeks ago I received an invitation from Renault, to go and test drive their cars at an airfield in Rufforth, York.
I confirmed that I would attend and received the information pack today. It seems like its going to be a pretty good day.
I could pick 2 x 30 minute test drives from a list of vehicles. I decided to go for the Renault Megane CC (petrol/automatic gear box) and the Vel Satis (diesel/manual gear box). I didn't really want an automatic gear box in the Megane CC but that was the only choice I had with the Megane range.
From what i've read, i get to go out on the open roads in these cars, without any salesmen by my side. So its just myself, and my guest (my dad).
Before/After the test drives we have the opportunity to go on a driving dynamics course. Professional Instructors teach us all about ABS with electronic brake assist, split friction braking exercises illustrating electronic stability with ASR traction control, rapid lane change simulation to show how the ASR traction control system works together with understeer control logic... etc....
Sounds like a good day out... and Renault provide refreshments! ohh.. and we get an exclusive preview of the New Renault Modus before its launched in September.... I saw it at the motorshow and i wasn't too impressed. And we get a close look at one of the F1 cars
