    Aquaplaning

    Arsing buggery :/

come up to the a6 / a46 roundabout (trig knows where it is) was going slow cus its been raining, got about halfway around, and try to turn, car keeps going and going, into the lane next to me which thank god is empty cus the van in that lane was slow at getting out of the junction, anyway im at full lock and the fkin thing starts to grip again, so i start going back again, so im getting chucked about side to side get less and less steering and manage to get it going straight n i manage to stop and take a breath. scared the poop outta me and i wasn't even going fast, any faster and i wud have been in the ditch, just thankful noone was in the next lane at the time cus i cant afford a new car

anyway, motorway driving course tonight done by the police, dont think ill tell em about this

lol - the worst part is if you have it turning and the wheels get grip and the whole car darts of in a random direction that can be pretty brown trouser time!

That roundabout is actually one of the better ones, its quite new so it has a layer of grippy stuff on parts of it, i bet I know where u went as well, the bit where u come from that a6 onto the dual carriageway towards birstall right? theres been a few accidents there that I've seen theres a slight dip in the road and a seam where they've joined from the road to the bridge bits...

Not only did you do well to keep it together....well done..you wrote it down with aplomb.

I know exactly what you felt and how it musta happened.

Ace bit of writing mate...really deep and heart felt!

Sorry you were so scared....you gotta seriously look at getting newer tyres tho

Never had a proper aquaplane moment but a few close calls..... Worst thing you can do is slam the brakes on. Amongst other reasons, tyres disperse water better when they are turning, even if they are crappy or good tyres....

Still, the 1st reaction is just to stop the damn thing ASAP and slam the brakes on

heh... i know what you mean about your arms aching... when i came off with a tyre blowout on the motorway, it kept gaining grip, then losing it all, and the steering wheel was kicking my ass -no power steering in a 106, either!

/me reminisces, and head starts to ache
