    Company car = German, pah

    How about an Alfa Giulietta.

I presume the 235bhp variant would be out of your budget, but plenty of very nice toys lower down.

The carbon figures are pretty good across the range which is nice for tax, but don't believe the petrol mpg figures. For the petrol I hear people get mpg in the 30's. Probably because they switch the electronics to sport mode so they can get the biggest grin

    Re: Company Cars

Mainly because the Giulietta is not that much fun to drive, and reliability is a big concern being an Alfa! Plus its not as pretty as some of it's rivals.

I looked at once when i got my 1er, but it was more expensive [keeping in mind you need at least the 1.4 MA) with less equipment, I wasn't as keen on the looks, smaller, and with it's reliability question...wasn't a good move for me. It was a close second though, as the only other choice of a similar (but still bigger) size is an A3 which is rather dull.

Someone else at work has one though and loves it, but then he is a big Alfa fan and is used to the problems so he is happy ;D He's also not a big fan of in-car gadgets so again it fitted his needs.

Each to their own, it's good that there is some choice ;D

    Re: Company Cars

Fun to drive is fair enough, specially if you need RWD to float your boat. I have a RWD car for weekends and it is a lot of fun, but for everyday transport my 166 only has 190BHP so which wheels are driven really doesn't matter.

Surprised you say it isn't as pretty. Mind you, I always thought the 1 series was a rather blatant copy of the old Alfa 147, so that doesn't look too bad

Reliability a concern? We are a 2 Alfa family and have been for a few years now, we really wouldn't be if there were reliability issues.

Each to their own with cars really, they are quite personalised things that usually polarise people

I'll finish with this link w/r to reliability ;D

    Re: Company Cars

    Fascinating link!

The 156 comes out as a bit of a dog, which the first ones certainly had their issues but those shouldn't be in the survey any more, but they have a 89% higher chance of breakdown than average.
The 147 comes out as not quite so awful.
My wife has a GT, which is by far the best of the three at a 46% higher than average chance of breakdown, requiring a £324 fix. Odd, given it is basically a 156 sportwagon chassis with 147 front end and interior

    Guess I'm just lucky

Sadly no stats for my 166, or anything currently in production.

I would definitely suggest Audi A3
