We have and S-max and reguarly have 7 people in it, I was skeptical getting a ford but I really like it.

Alternatively, take a look at a Honda Accord Tourer.

Can't speak for the current model Accord as mine is the previous generation, but given that they are based on the same floorpan and chassis, I'd say that because I can't get even close to 3 child seats in the back of mine, you'd be very unlikely to get them in the current one. Shame, because the new diesel works really well, especially if you're lazy sod like me and insist on having an auto.

The Ford S-max is great value and has good reviews. Quite economical too on the whole.
