Can we Test Drive a Corsa, and Cripple you too?

Guess who got injured this afternoon by an old dear?

    Yup...moi

    and it hurts guys

Old dear, and her son (about 40) and his kids, who ran around and wrecked stuff for 20 minutes, until I'd sussed what was best for the old dear, and I got them a Corsa to the front of the dealership, for a test drive.

in got kids, in got bloke, in got old dear to front seat, and Zakky crouches down, next to her, to show her controls.

She gets comfy, and I show her indicators and stuff. I am crouched on the road, with the drivers door open, and I am sat back on my haunches.

I do not realise she has put clutch down.

She asks where reverse is, and I tell her its top left, and to pull up the collar, under the gear knob, just like on her old Corsa.

    She does.....

she asks where indicators are, and a little bemused, as they are same as her car, I tell her left column...she tries and gets them.

She asks me where the air con is, and I tell her and lean across to show her.

Sales Men have to get quite close to old dears sometimes, and its not pleasant but she's a clean enough old dear, so I lean across, still crouched, push the button and lean back.

At this point she decides to stall the car in reverse, by letting her foot off the clutch in one go, with it in gear, and with about 1500 revs on it.

My knee gets stuck under the bottom edge of the door, and the door skin edge , holds my knee tight, and nearly wrenches off my knee cap.

The car shoots back about 6 inches on the handbrake, rides the weight of the entire car up onto my knee cap, and back down.

My leg is used like a pole vault and as I smack her in the shoulder, with my out thrusting left hand, the car stops and my leg twists enough to get it out.

less than 1 second, but sh1t it hurt. The car and its 4 occupants have just used me knee cap like a pole vaulters pole.

And I now limp like a tart, and while its not bruised on the outside too bad, the knee cap hurts like hell, where it got prised aweay from its normal place.

Its in place....but guys.....I nearly cried

Watch out for old dears in Corsa's.

She was clueless and off they went for their test drive, and yes they did buy, but from my boss, while I held a cold can of coke to the offending knee joint

    Work...why do we do it?

    Workplace related injury?

If you were american you would be sueing right about now.

I am a veteran of knee injuries, take it easy on both using the leg AND the painkillers, take it from me, you don't want to over medicate and then overuse the joint THATS just asking for trouble and long term pain.

    Hope you feel better soon

Aww man... the way you describe it sounds so painful!!

But please, my friend... get it checked out NOW (well in the morning). When you wake up it's gonna be SO painful, the body repairs itself at about 36hours after the shock... your gonna be in serious pain.

Get it checked out, and get it checked out ASAP... we dont want you NEVER being able to drive again...

[reading that back sounds like one of Zak33's posts himself]!

Yeah - if its cracked/broken any bones (there are lots in the knee - trust me I know, I've had an operation on one ) they often have to rebreak it if you leave it too long :|

Knee cap is in place again....it had definately slipped down a bit, but bit of massage in the bath, and its back the right way

Went out Sat night and got quite drunk, and Sair drove me home, so the pain was dulled

Feels much better now....the joint is fine, the cap just makes a grinding noise when I walk. So cheers for caring dudes.....will drive today.

See me on the news later when I plough through a shop window with no brakes

    kidding...will be fine.

Old dears should just be banned from cars non stop, the amount of the blue rinse brigade you see on the roads doing 10mph in the fast lane is rediculous. How's your knee doing now?
