    Windscreen grime

Having coped with a moderatly dirty windscreen for a while i decided to treat it to a proper clean. Handilly enough I found a can of Halfords glass-cleaning foam which i used both outside and inside. What a mistaka to maka. While it might've removed the dirt it left an oily/shiny/petroleum coloured residue which doesnt want to be wiped off. It is generally transparent, but when the sunlight falls on it at a certain angle and the road itself is in shade i can't see a thing. This only happens in one or two spots on my daily route but is annoying enough and dangerous too.

What can you recommend for cleaning windows inside and outside(well, i think outside is not too bad now that i have used the screenwash a coupla times), something that will definately evaporate after it finished cleaning and will remove any grime or grease.

Agreed - Autoglym's glass polish is amazing and smells great

Don't use too much though since it dusts easily.

I use Katun lens and mirror cleaner (basically just isopropynol alchohol) to clean me windows... works lovely and doesn't leave residues... think it's about £7 for a 5 litre tub (least it was when I last had to order some)

it's damn good for the inside too... if you can - get some anti-static foam cleaner on it first, then do the alcohol stuff to get rid of the smery mess

Right. I tried some isoclene wipes on the inside, didn't seem to do much.

And this morning, going to uni. OMG. Why did i ever try to clean my windscreen? Basically its as if it mists up on the outside. When i spray it it goes away. Then as soon as wipers stop - its back. I had to stop and scrub it as dry as i could get it. Going to a car shop to get some paint and will get something for the screen there. I am really annoyed with it.

I bought autoglym "fast glass" spray in the end. Didn't feel safe with "polish". It helped. Need to clean it a second time though as it is still a little grimey.

There is however a new problem. In the morning - the morning due on the windscreen seems to leave tracks and a steamy looking residue. Washing it didn't help, and it only got away after I dried the windscreen or it dried off while driving. Its as if its steaming up on the outside. Maybe cleaning it again will help.

Diluted lemon juice is the stuff to use for getting rid of nasty stuck on grime.

Then for cleaning it, you need BetaClean glass polish/activator (Only actually available to the windscreen trade...I have bucketloads of it! )
