Does anyone know (because you would!) how much a fuel sender unit is for a 306?
Just been taking mine apart to find out whats wrong and it needs soldering (which im not sure i want to do with it being covered in diesel!)

It'll be right if it's diesel pal. you won't get a soldering iron hot enough to ignite it. Just clean it off first - degrease it or something, cos it'll be easier to hold on to

Well im a bit dubious about doing it really.
It passes a current through it, and it sits in diesel all day long. So therefore it must have some covering over the solder points i would have thought.
Now me resoldering will remove that covering and kaboom.
Or not?

Doesnt Diesel only 'ignite' under compression.....
If it was petrol then I would get a new one.... diesel - I would have a go

And with the fumes that were coming off it last night made me start to think otherwise!

Otherwise OK
As for the fumes its always best to check..... I have fond memories of setting my old moped fuel tank alight
Twas quite comical really...... thinking I had removed all the petrol before welding it.... obviously not
Shame to hear about the cars!
I quite like/liked my 306, although it wasnt an estate.
If the SD1 is around i might be thinking about it again, now that i have made a bit of profit on this 306! Let me have a talk to my bank manager (read Microsoft Money!)

Diesel........this unit sits in the tank then?
Are you worried about soldering it IN THE TANK (no worries, the connection must be out side, unless you are in the tank with it )
or are you worried about soldering it in your house and THEN plugging it back into the cars tank where it will be open to the diesel?
If so....I frankly dont know the conductivity of Diesel....so I cant answer it if the sender needs soldering WITHIN the tank
