Question Engine Oil - Valvoline Vs Triple QX?

Valvoline Durablend FE Semi-Synthetic 5W30 Engine Oil (5 Litre)

TRIPLE QX 5w30 Semi Synthetic Engine Oil - 5Ltr
    http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/ca...6021&0&cc5_247

I bought the Valvoline for ~£25 on offer, but just seen the Triple QX is half that price, any opinions on quality here?

tbh you can get fully synth for that price and spec so why bother with part ?

given the choice, Castrol or Mobil,

    then valvoline over triple QX.

For roughly the same price as the valvoline you can get top quality fully-synthetic, so I think it's probably over-priced a little. I don't know anything about either of those brands though - maybe one has been certified by certain manufacturers?

Ah right, the manual said semi-synthetic so I assumed that was right/best.

It's fine, and worrying over £10 isn't worth it in the grand scheme of things

If your engine only needs semi then going fully synth would mean you could go longer between oil changes.. but this might not be a good thing anyway. Stick to the recommended schedule and products and you'll be fine (for my astra I even went as far as only using the OEM GM semi-synthentic). For the Audi they use Castrol Edge so I stick to the same.

Yeah unfortunately I have no idea how well the car was looked after for the first 100k miles, but I'll try and do my bit now to limit future damage.

one day soon I will begin a thread about engine oil

I've found out a lot recently......

either way, Marcos, you did ok bud. A good oil and not a bad price so don't fret

the guys are correct that fully synth is achievable at similar price but it's a small different my friend. Crack on with life now.
