    Not sure what to do.

To chop the focarse in and get a sportier (probably older) car or just to keep it untill it stops working.

As has been identified in http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=29728 it doesnt look like ill get more than 5k for the focarse thats a shame i was hoping for 5.5k at least. So 5k plus a few K on top.

Im wanting something more sporty, faster and suited to me. I dont know why i even bought that focarse as even tho its a 2.0 and it handles niceley - its a 5 door old mans boaring car. I aint got a family, i dont need a 5 door family hatch, plus i got stung on the finance coz i didnt know what i was doing, overall a big mistake :|

So what to get for 5-10k? It can be 2 seater oldie i dont mind. 200sx? MR2? Celica? MX5? CRX? How reliable and easy to maintain are those? I like the idea of getting a newer car that will last a while, such as a Smart Roadster (i like them, they handle great) Any other ideas, the faster and better handling the better.

Whatever i do now, the car is gonna have to last 3 years or so, just until i can get my RS2/RS4.

S14a 200SX for about 6k, spend the rest on insuring it and petrol. You'll love it, just treat her nicely in the wet.

Don't buy a CRX. Please... it's like, my thing

Anyway there's plenty of choice for that budget. My advice, if you have got a budget of 10k, would be spend a third to a half on the car, then another third or quater on sorting it out (bodywork, engine rebuild maybe, etc.), and save the rest for the bills down the line.

    /steps into Moby's territory.

S14 the earlier model, S14a the later (and better looking IMHO) model.

Plenty of grunt as standard and more easily achieved. Think the 14a had a touring model (A/C, leather and skirts). SXOC a great place to start; they seem a friendly bunch of chaps over there.

    /Puts on sensible head.

Check out insurance costs, and try and get a feel for running costs. The focus may be boring, but I bet its cheap trouble free motoring. You got much NCB?

I'll have 3 years NCB in aprol which is when i will be buying if i do decide to change cars. And ill be 25 in september.

The focus is reliable as hell. Insurance is 600/year and i get about 28mpg average out of her. I dont mind paying more for being able to put my foot down and actually have something happen I'll just hahve to keep her off turbo to save petrol (yeah, right!)

    Seconded.

M8 bought a T reg white one about 3 months ago from a Southampton guy, prestine condition, paid £7000 cash.

They come with 15" alloys as standard for fast pick up, so with any money saved, chuck in an induction kit, new alloys if you want, some lower springs and maybe a decent exhaust.

The garage where the Rex has work done races 3 ITR's in an endurance series. I'll try and get a picture next time I'm there, the 3 of them are usually lined up in one of the buildings

Hmm integra, always liked them. how much power does one of those put out? their only 1.8 NA are they not?

Checked insurance - about £950 for a S14 and the same for an integra type r.

    Thats easily doable.

The ITR is one of the best handling FWD cars made - its got a real scremer of a V-tec plant in it and unmodified is quicker than a 200

However , the 200 is considerably easier and cheaper to reliably tune. Your budget should see you to a nice late model S14a

Yeh i like the fact that as standard the S14a puts out 200bhp odd whilst relativeley untuned, wheras the ITR puts out 180bhp odd (?) and probably hasnt got much scope for more tuning, coz its already near the limits of the engine i would have thought.

I am bored of FWD - its time for a "real" car i think
