As Kal has since been kind enough to explain it seems the chaps over at Fiorano have thrown a fly in the ointment and the rules have changed since I was last paying attention *facepalm*

Shame really, I was intriguied to see how they'd perform although I think rally cars and some of the vehicles favoured by the Japanese tuning industry still go a long way to proving a turbo'd four pot can slay giants with the best of them!

but until then, some weight lost over the front axle is a good plan.
I remember BMW claiming that going to a V8 actually lost some weight over the front!
It makes sense to me - although the v8 will be a lot wider, it will only be slightly longer than a 4 cylinder.
Much as I love turbocharged engines, I still am sad that they are losing the high revving decent capacity v8.

It is a great decision considering Formula 1. However, the question remains the same. Will it perform better? One good thing that can be said is some weight has been lost from the front the axle which is a good start. It still will be twin turbo over 400 bhp, so one can expect an impressive performance.
