    Recommend me some car audio...

Right, I need the help and advice of all you car-nuts out there.

I want to sort out some sounds in my car. It currently has nothing at all, no speakers, no wiring, nothing. I have two speaker-sized ports in the doors ~12.5cm diameter. I want to use a headphone-out as the source, so I know I will need an amp. (I don't want/need a headunit). 2 speakers is all I can really fit in the car, and I'm not sure where I could stick a sub, but if I have to I'm sure I could find a place.

So do your worst, what stuff would you recommend?

2 speakers (and a sub if you want) are all you need in a car - preferably mounted in front of you, at as close to eye level as possible.

As its generally impopssible to mount 6" speakers at eye level, most people go for components and then mount the tweeters at eye level as a form of comprimise.

Buy an as good quality 2 channel amp as possible, and as good quality 5.25" components as possible. Should sound good.

You inputting from a mp3 player by chance?

if your using your ipod, why not get that fm dock thingy and a cheap head unit, then you wont need an amp (which are a pita to set up if you never done it before) and probably cost less

With an old car like you've got, it'll be easier to break into I'd assume, so don't buy anything too "flashy" and have it on show

Thats the beauty of an ipod straight to amp type setup. The amp can be hidden somewhere out of sight, the ipod is carried around with you, all you gotta do is put some kind of 1980's tape player with the huge buttons in the dash and it looks like you have no idea what ICE is!
