Great little quiz on the Telegraph website in an article about the F1 engine, i mean power unit, changes.

Match the engine sound to the car.

6/8. Easier than I thought it would be. Got all the road cars right and the V8 and V10 but mixed up the V6 and V12, mostly because the V12 clip was relatively quiet compared to the V8 and V10. I'm sure I'll get used to the new engines but I'm still missing the screaming V8s and V10s based on those clips.

Spoiler:

In hindsight you can hear more than a combustion engine spinning down towards the end of the clip for the V6 and the background noise should have been a clue for the V12 too (I doubt there would have been cicadas (?) around in the Jerez or Bahrain tests this year).

Oh and I picked the Enzo mostly because of the wheelspin at the start (though the revs are definitely higher too). The DB9 and the Veyron in particular were pretty easy to pick out.

Actually just listened to them again and I think I was clicking the wrong buttons as I can clearly hear the difference now! Ho-hum... Amazing what you can hear on repeated listens that you don't really spot the first time.

6/8 as well - got the V8 and V12 mixed up, road cars were quite easy.

Thought the downshifts were like a car I'd heard in the flesh, but I was wrong

Got a couple of the rod cars mixed, that V12 is very iconic though, dunno how you mixed that with the comparatively gruff V6.

8/8 although I did have trouble placing the Lamborgini at first and had to leave it until last!
Seemed a little unfair as it wasn't specific with a model so could have been either a V10 or V12.

Got the Veyron and Aston right first go, got the Ferrari V12's too but the wrong way around... Everything else was an uneducated guess!!
