Question Cheap alternative to Gumball Rally?

I remember there was Student Rally, but I'm no longer a student, and there is Pure Rally, which is still ~£1400 odd for 6 days.

Anyone here have knowledge of others?

That's the only one I know of, and it's definitely cheaper by far! £250 cars, upcoming one for munich is £250 entry

Cool idea, I'm not a good enough mechanic to try that though :-p, just want to drive my regular car through europe etc in a convoy with other like-minded party people

    Hmm.

Do you want the kind of thing which isn't so much racing, but more trecking?

Is the one I did two and a half years ago now, it was such an experience it still feels like yesterday. My buddy whom I did it with enjoyed it so much he is off to Mongolia in two months, this time going going via Iran and a lot of the *stans.

He will be part of a convoy doing that too.

Thing is, once you've done something like that, you get this kind of faith, ability to problem solve, fix things that you would have thought would have ruined you, for me it was fixing a fuel pump for a 20+ year old car, in the middle of some mountains. Or just getting safely through some sketchy security places. It's a great kind of life skill, knowing that if, despite planning, something goes very wrong, you'll figure out a solution. So much so I drunkenly suggested to my gf, and she agreed, that we should travel by land from Singapore to Hoi An in August. The rainy seasons, biking through Loas. Just us two, it appears so tame, it's going to be nice and relaxing.

I get that would be a great experience etc, but I'm not into having that kind of pressure of dealing with a banger car. I just want to drive something pretty reliable (normal) and cruise through europe in a convoy.

Can I suggest you join something like an owner's club forum / website? In the motorcycling world this is fairly common (trying to recreate 'Long Way Round'???), although there is a biker culture thing of going off camping round Europe. This isn't so common among car enthusiasts - or so it seems to me.

Interesting. Ok when I get my Tesla I'm sure those guys will be eager to see how well it does across Europe :-p
