for the love of god make sure you test drive BOTH before making any sort of decision. And by test drive I mean REALLY test drive. 1 hour minimum. motorway stint, twisty stint, town stint.
Vtec engines are not known for low down grunt, and whilst revving the nads of engine is great fun, it can get tiresome. Similarly, turbo charged cars are great on boost, but the "elastic band" throttle reponse could be something you simply can't get on with.

Absolutely Jiff, they are so different both need a solid, all conditions test drive. I own a VTEC powered motor and yet I love the Saab as well, it's something only the roads can decide

Neither are like the BMW at all. The BMW is a...a...BMW.

OK...have driven Saab's...lots of them. They are frankly devastating torque machines.
Have never driven an Aerodeck , so thats a hard thing to compare for you, BUT having driven the Saab's I find them quirky. Not bad. Just unusual. I KNOW I could get in a Honda and beat most cars round a track in it...but not a Saab. They're unusual suspension. You'll see when you drive in. it is MILES off the BMW>...miles.

My money would be on ....neither

cos they are chalk and cheese. I dont mea I wouldnt buy either...I just would'nt wanna bet on you buying one or the other

However.....Honda's dont break. Saab's do. Sadly

Oh, I shall definitely drive both before deciding. But I reckon I'm unlikely to dislike either of them because I'm expecting them to be different cars. The dilemna will be which style to choose of the two ... raw or refined?

i owned an Integra Type R for 12 months, never had any car before or since that was such a pleasure, once warm and you hear the cams switch lobes the power input is fantastic.. yeah they are noisey, the suspension is unbeleivable, ultra precise steering, a great feeling for road, super the brakes etc etc, a out and out track car .. pure raw enjoyment ... i still look at the R' Forums with envy ...

i also owned a C70 which it a FWD turbo motoway cruiser so i got some experience of the choice your looking at..

as many said here chalk and cheese..

the Saab will eat motorway miles all daylong, the ITR will be a chore after 50 or so motorway miles.. pull up outside anywhere and you will look like a older more conservative sensible well off fellow. (and you will need to be for the fuel and repair bills)

on the otherhand, the ITR on anything other than motorways make the Saab look like a double decker jelly where you are using unseen forces to keep on road. pull up and you look like an extra from the Fast and Furious..

    I voted Type-R as its a legend

But the Saab may be just as suitable
